Hermes Ribaya has passed away at peace early this morning at his home in Manila. He is survived by his wife, Peaches, children; Elaine Hazel, Hector, Kay, Sonny and Luis, sister, Neny and brothers; Nestor, Ramon and Dick. Please pray for him.

Jose Peping Raneces Remonte

Jose Peping Raneces Remonte has passed away at the age of 85. Uncle Peping, as he was known to all his nephews and nieces was the last surviving and youngest of 12 brothers and sistesrs of the late Brigido Remonte and Eulalia Raneces of Bagumbayan, Oas, Albay. HIs remains have been cremated at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California and will be brought back to Manila. He is survived by his wife Tia Ned, children, Willy, Leny, Joselito, Sonia, Eulalia, Edgardo and Vilma

Farewell, Reynaldo "Narding" Relato

It is with deep sadness, announcing the passing away of Reynaldo "Narding" Relato, who died on November 9, 2008, in Oas, Albay.

He is survived by Naty Nepomuceno, his better-half; children: Lani, Lota, Lina, Liza, Rey and Roy.

Interment details will follow. Lets pray for the repose of Narding's soul.

My great-grandmother was a French-Canadian girl taken in during a native attack on a village and lived with the tribe. Her son, my grandfather, grew up in Alberta speaking only the language of the native band and a few words in English. At the turn of the century, he was called to the ministry. Even though he didn’t speak English, and was hardly fluent until the day he died in 1975, he answered the call.

He worked where he felt he was needed. He never owned a home but lived in whatever rectory the church provided for him. As I grew to know him in the 1950s, I got used to his routine. He preached at one church in the morning and another in the evening, seventy miles from the first. I thought of him as a simple, uneducated man who worked hard to help the people close to him. After all, he could hardly string a sentence of English together.
